25 August 2012

So far it’s been a summer of pop up love in London… and whatever the weather we’ve been enjoying our cinema alfresco! Outdoor film specialists, Pop Up Screens have announced they will be hosting a screening for the hearing impaired – a first for outdoor cinema.

Anchorman will be shown with subtitles on Saturday 25th August in Waterlow Park on Highgate Hill. Doors are at 7pm with the film starting at 8.30pm. Tickets are limited to 100 and available through priced at £8.

And what would a trip to the movies be without treats…? Pop Up Screens have it covered. There will of course be popcorn, supplied by London Kettle Popcorn (, and a fully stocked bar serv ing craft beer from Brewdog and Freedom Breweries and wine. To keep with the ‘wild’ alfresco cinema vibe going there will be the chance to sample buffalo, ostrich, springbok, wild boar and wildebeest from Tuckers Exotic Meat Shack (

Founder of Pop Up Screens, David Leydon said; “Since announcing our summer season of outdoor movies we’ve been contacted by several people asking if any of the screenings would have subtitles and our answer was always ‘unfortunately not’.  In the end we got to the point of thinking why aren’t we?  So we set about organising one, and who better for the job then Ron Burgandy?”

The Pop Up Screens summer schedule continues with classics such as Taken, Submarine, Ferris Buellers Day Off, Fight club, Leon and Dark Knight still to come. Doors are at 7pm with the film kicking off at 8.30pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance at for £8, or a weekender pass to see all three films at any one location will set you back £20, with a bumper Season Ticket available for only £50- that’s all 21 films for just £2.38 per movie!
